View appointments on an external calendar

A really simple but powerful calendar feature, is the ability to link your Hippocamp appointments with an external calendar, like a phone, Outlook or Google calendar.

Follow the steps below to start seeing your appointments on an external calendar.

  1. While logged into Hippocamp, Click the Dashboard icon in the menu.
  2. Then click Calendar in the top menu.
  3. Click the Enable external calendar checkbox, if it is not already selected.
  4. In the dropdown that shows, you can select how the patient name is displayed in your external calendar.

Adding to iCal on a Mac

  1. Copy the long url that shows in your Hippocamp calendar page as described above.
  2. Go to iCal and click File > New Calendar Subscription.
  3. Paste in the URL when prompted to and click Subscribe
  4. In the next window, fill in the fields to your requirements. Make sure you change the Auto Refresh to every 5-minutes.
  5. Click OK to save the subscription. You may need to refresh the calendar.

Adding to iCal on a iPhone

  1. Copy the long url that shows in your Hippocamp calendar page as described above.
  2. Email the url to an email account that is on your phone.
  3. Open the email and click the url
  4. Follow the prompts to subscribe to this calendar.

Adding to a Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. Next to “Other calendars” on the left, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Select Add by URL.
  4. Paste in the calendar URL from Hippocamp in the field provided.
  5. Click Add Calendar. The calendar will appear on the left side under “Other calendars.”

It might take up to 12 hours for changes to show in your Google Calendar. This is a technical restriction with Google Calendar and is not something Hipocamp can resolve.

Please note that this is ‘View only” functionality. If you change an appointment in your external calendar, it will not update to the Hippocamp calendar. Your external calendar receives updated from Hippocamp every 15 minutes, so please be away of this delay.
